There is a giant blue moon shining through my windows right now, and the house is echoing with a very specific, chaotic kind of cheering. The Spurs just pulled off another win.
I’m on the floor finishing this week’s letter to my favorite corner of the internet (that’s you), and for one second, everything just feels good.
If you’ve been here a while, you know I am not a Sports Girl. I am typically a merch-and-snacks girl. But there is a specific comfort in having a game playing in the background. It’s the ultimate white noise. It sounds like childhood. It sounds like a Sunday night before reality kicks back in.
But once in a blue moon, I accidentally get pulled in.
Tonight is one of those nights. My 22-year-old brother just texted me a photo from a midnight line at Academy, sweating through his shirt just to buy a limited-edition championship tee. Watching the people on my screen, hearing the city honk into the night, I don’t know, y’all. Everything feels heavy lately, but watching people experience pure joy together? It feels a lot like hope.
Plus, the ‘Wemby’ fan edits on TikTok are keeping my dopamine levels alive.
Thanks for letting me have my sports moment. I know, I know. 400 words on existential joy, immediately followed by bedding recommendations. It’s chaotic, but that is just the current landscape of my brain: half existential awe at human connection, half hyper-fixated on finding the perfect summer bedding.
